The Yucatan Peninsula and Quintana Roo coast is by far the most picturesque location to spend your Mexican vacation.
If you are seeking fun outside of Playa Del Carmen or Cancun, then look no further. These 6 wonderful Yucatan day trips will give your friends serious holiday envy.
Many tour companies will take you to Holbox from both Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, so it is a good way of doing it cheaper than by yourself.
If you are opting for a tour, make sure you get one that spends at least 3-4 hours on the island itself, rather than splitting it up with other islands (trust me, the others are nothing to fuss over). Read more about Holbox Island and what to do there HERE.
If you ever wanted to swim with marine life, this is where you need to go. From dolphin season, to turtle season and then whale shark season- you will be sure to see something!
Playa Del Carmen has a port pretty much dedicated to Cozumel, with over 50 agents all looking to take you there. I highly suggest asking your hotel reception for their advice, or doing some research on pinterest.
The world’s best eco-theme park, Xcaret boast hundreds of activities for any age group. Dive in underwater lagoons, swim with dolphins, watch a Mayan stage show or feed native birds- this park has it all. Visit: xcaret.com
One of the most beautiful archaeological sites on Earth, Tulum boats history and beach culture from its seams. Tulum was a highlight for me from my whole trip, and I wish I would have chosen to stay at least a night there. The boho markets, fresh produce and laid back atmosphere are a great break from the busy Cancun area.
My favourite natural wonder, the cenotes. Originally a Mayan sacrificial site, delivering bodies to the underworld, cenotes are a must see. The natural pools found inside craters, caves and jungle cavities are spread all over the Peninsula, so you can be sure to find one you love. The most famous of all is the Ik Kil, which can be very busy at peak seasons. Cenote Dos Ojos is another top option, with less visitors than Ik Kil, but no less beauty. Dos Ojos can be snorkel/skuba dived so is great adventure.
Adventure packed parks
Jungle Maya park is one of many great action-packed parks that offer a number of activities such as rappelling, cenote diving, zip lining and quad biking.
I loved the Tulum and Jungle Maya adventure tour, as it covered a lot in one day, but also gave enough time to experience everything.
