Wining and Dining in the Swan Valley

The Swan Valley, Western Australia is world renowned for its’ vineyards, micro-breweries and restaurants. Swan Valley Tours was kind enough to bring me out on their Full-day Indulgence Tour- a day of luxury, scenery and of course- the worlds best wine!

Heading out in the morning on a beautiful sunny day we knew we were in for a treat, the tour is not only about tasting (a few too many) wines, but also learning the vineyard culture and local history of the Swan Valley region. Trust me, if you like your wine you will LOVE this tour, it isn’t just for the oldies, it is the perfect date or girls day out.

Reaching the Valley; Pinelli Wines was our first encounter. The lovely staff, boutique cellar door and cute courtyard made everybody excited for what lay ahead. Tasting a total of 7 wines, we knew we had to pace ourselves for the day, but if your not going to enjoy it- why go right?

The tour guide, Ivan, was a gem. He made everyone feel included and added a personal touch to the tour, which is rare in larger groups. We instantly felt like a team and the jokes started flowing.

Next stop was the famous Sandalford. My favourite stop of the day, we were laughing from the second we entered. Wayno- the bar man was a cracker, it is rare you find somebody with such an exceptional customer service level in the most relaxing way- seriously this guy made my day. It seemed like this was the theme of the tour- cracking jokes and befriending everyone we met, the Australian culture was alive and well.

Growing up so locally, I had never experienced this region in such depth- the beauty and the simplicity of it all is amazing. The fresh air and sunshine just fuels you to have even more fun and I can’t imagine anyone ever having a bad day in such a place.

We stopped at a total of 5 wineries, one brewery and one chocolate factory- 7 stops in one day! A huge lunch at Houghtons, another famous vineyard, was exceptional and we were never left hungry- or thirsty!

So was it worth it? At just $110 a person, you will see and experience everything the Valley has to offer. The day leaves you feeling knowledgable, full bellied and a little tipsy! For those without a car in Perth- there is really no other option than this! You will end up spending MUCH more if you were to do it yourself, with meals in Perth upwards of $50pp plus petrol, wine and cheese… this is a bargain! I highly recommend the tour- I have memories that will last a lifetime. Many thanks to Swan Valley Tours and of course Ivan, legendary service!
