However, once you drive through the gates, you enter a complete asylum from the world around you. Lush green palms, a modern entrance and a direct view of the Asian-inspired pool area are the first thing you’ll see. The hotel has only six rooms, so you can be sure that the friendly staff will know you by name and show you extra special care.

The authentic Thai artifacts dotted around the halls reflect the heritage of the area, but surprisingly combine flawlessly with the fresh, mod décor.

There is only one word that comes to mind when I reflect on my ‘King Pool View Suite’ – perfection. I was completely shocked when I entered the enormous room that I would call home while in Bangkok. It was utterly spotless, designed with care and imagination, but most importantly, comfortable.

The concrete bathtub, waterfall shower and huge array of amenities are perfectly matched with the modern aspects of the hotel. Make sure you take a soak in the bathtub – it is big enough for two!
Something that I did miss was having a television in the room. Although I love a digital detox, jet-lag got the better of me and all I wanted was to snuggle in with a bit of TV – but it does also ensure you can have a truly zen experience.
mobic purchase The rooms offer air-conditioning, pool views, mini bar, tea and coffee and a writing desk so you have everything you need to enjoy a night in if needed.
The hotel can be found off Sukhumvit 49/10, a street that offers a few simple bars, restaurants and shops that will provide you with the essentials, however you will need to catch a taxi or uber to reach the main districts such as Khoa San and the riverside. Although not directly located on a touristy main boulevard like the major chains, the hotel is found only 45-minutes from the airport, 25 minutes from the weekend markets and the incredible Golden Palace and Wat Pho. This is a little retreat that may not be easily found, but is ideal to find peace and quiet.
This is an incredible, bespoke-style accommodation and is ideal for honeymooners, those looking for a relaxed, private stay in Bangkok and those wanting to step away from the mainstream hotel chains. I loved every second of my stay at The Twelve Bangkok, but would not recommend this for budget travellers, or those who prefer walking from hotels to sights and restaurants (you will need to catch taxis).
Prices start from 7,000 thai baht per night for the King Suite and you can book directly through twelvehotelbangkok.com
I was welcomed as a guest by the Twelve Hotel, but all opinions, as always, are my own.
