Checking in at the Hotel Palazzo Zichy, Budapest- Review

Arriving in the late afternoon in sunny Budapest, the taxi wound it’s way through the cobblestone streets and downtown to the Palace Quarter in Pest. From the outside, the Palazzo Zichy could be any other art nouveau residence located among the many churches nearby, until you walk through the modern doors.

The Low-Down

The grand entryway of the Zichy is mesmerizing, I was left gob smacked by the high ceilings and gleaming chandeliers. The delightful check-in staff greeted us with warm smiles and informed us of all the vitals- the relaxation and wellness areas, breakfast times and of course- the free DVD library!

The Rooms

Entering into deluxe room 309, I felt an instantly at home. The bright and airy room overlooked what I deemed the ‘gingerbread church’ and a luxe, soft king size bed lay welcoming. The rooms have everything you could need including all the amenities, a waterfall shower and maximal storage space. The bathrooms sheer elegance added to the rooms modern sleek style yet there was no clinical feeling, exactly what you want from a luxury stay.

The Experience

Very few accommodation providers go above and beyond to ensure guests receive all their needs, desires and maintain their well being. The Zichy wellness center is truly fantastic for the tired traveller looking for some down time. Relaxation room, gym and sauna with fresh fruit, water and towels- everything you need!

The 24 hour reception and concierge service is also a major bonus, with all the hot tips on the best way to see Budapest. The bubbly reception girls recommended we do the hop on hop off bus, which was absolutely fantastic and the BEST way to see the whole city plus included a night boat cruise- bonus!
