Ahoy from Western Australia- Captain Cook Cruises

Buoy oh buoy do I love a cruise, but not just any cruise- a VIP dream!

Captain Cook Cruises, Western Australia jumped on board (pun intended) the Home Roaming Project, showing me what they do best- Cruising the Swan River and offering premium service with their Perth Famous Wine Cruise. A day of luxury, wine tastings and gourmet meals- this is a must do cruise to experience the Swan Valley and surrounds from a different perspective- the water!

Heading off from the famous Barrack Street Jetty in Perth’s center, the cruise takes you on a stunning path through mangroves, bays and million dollar foreshore mansions to the beautiful Swan Valley. The journey is all about sitting back and relaxing- so if you want to party this is not for you! With morning tea served on board, unlimited tea & coffee and of course- Perth’s famous wines!

After a long morning on board, we docked at Sandalford Winery– one of Perth’s (and the world’s) most prestigious wineries. Sandalford is a favourite of mine- after first being introduced to their wonderful staff earlier this month, I was happily reunited with my main man Wayno and the lovely guide, Tania, two staff members with some of the best customer service I have ever had the pleasure to experience. It is people like them that make any tour memorable, so I must thank them for their hospitality! Taking a walking tour of the winery, including all of the manufacturing processes, you really get a great insight on the wine industry and appreciation of the art.

We then headed into the main dining room for our 6 flight tasting of their wines (which leaves you a little tipsy!) and a delicious two course meal- seriously this is divine- you feel a little like a celebrity by the end of it, all that behind the scenes VIP treatment!

After lunch, we made our way back on board and were able to take in the warm sun on the deck, enjoy more coffee and cake and relive the beautiful scenery as we headed back to the city. To my surprise- the crew even provided live entertainment- with the beautiful Laura singing some classic hits and getting the whole boat involved- my version of ‘hit the road jack’ was a big hit (haha).

So who would like this tour? I feel this is more for the older, appreciative tourist- somebody who wants to take a day to relax, enjoy the scenery and eat some very good food and wine. Being the youngest on board, I definitely think that the older generations are targeted for this one, but it is perfect for any age- as long a you understand it isn’t about getting drunk- it is about appreciating all that Perth and the Valley has to offer! A really beautiful day out and worth every cent!
