5 Secret Places in Perth That Only a Local Would Know

A lot of recent #HomeRoaming has got me excited about the secrets of the most isolated City on Earth- Perth. Fun fact: Perth has the more sunny days a year than all other capitol cities of the world!

1. John Oldham Park, Mounts Bay Road

Waterfall, playgrounds, the famous Perth black swan’s… this place is so peaceful and pretty, perfect for a DIY picnic lunch!!!

2. Matilda Bay Reserve, Crawley

Grab a coffee at the local Tea House or a gourmet meal at the Matilda Bay Restaurant, the best view in Perth, sunsets that are to die for and lush green lawns! Magical!

3. Penguin Island, Rockingham

A little further south of Perth (about 45 minutes) lies this little island getaway, with REAL penguins! Go swimming with wild dolphins, soak up the sun on the sandy beaches or go for a hike to the top of the hills for a spectacular view.

4. Canton Bar, Hay St. Perth City

My favourite little bar, so funky and great food, cocktails and atmosphere. Perfect way to spend a Friday or Saturday night!

  1. Perth, my home town. I recognize every single one of those amazing spots. Crawly bay has been a family favorite way back when you could still catch prawns there, and penguin island, well way back in the day you used to be able to stay on the island. So many memories. Great post here.

    Peace Out,

  2. Great tips..! I was in Perth exactly a year ago. Friends of mine live there so we visited couple of the places on your list (but not all!) I loved the Penguin Island, although we succeeded only on the second time as it was too windy the first time! Perth is a great city, I loved it.
